Eaton Strainers by Type

Eaton Simplex Strainers - See Simplex Models >>

Simplex strainers are the most basic type of in line basket strainer. These are used for applications where the line can be shut down for cleaning without a major disruption in work flow. Eaton simplex strainers are designed to stand up to tough industrial uses like machining fluids, wastewater, descaling systems and many others.

Simplex strainers typically use a single interior basket that collects debris from the media that passes through it. Eaton makes six different simplex strainer models to meet your needs. Choose your size, connection type and material for a customized strainer that works perfectly in your system.

Eaton Duplex Strainers - See Duplex Models >>

Unlike simplex strainers which require pipe line shut down, duplex strainers enable cleaning without stopping a line. Duplex strainers use at least two chambers, each containing a basket. A valve is used to divert flow from one chamber to another so that filtration can continue constantly. These strainers are ideal for applications that require 100% uptime.

Eaton carries four different duplex strainer options (aside from fabricated strainers). Each is best suited for different applications, media, etc.

Other types of strainers...

Eaton Y-Strainers

Even simpler than a simplex strainer, a Y-strainer (sometimes known as a wye-strainer) use a mesh or perforated sheet to remove solids from a pipe line. These are generally for very light duty straining applications as Y-strainers cannot hold much debris. Usually they are used as a protective measure to keep sensitive machinery like pumps and meters functioning smoothly. Learn More about Y Strainers. You can also check out the Eaton model 85 Y-Strainer here.

Eaton Fabricated Strainers

Fabricated strainers are used for jobs that are extremely heavy-duty or specialized. These strainers are literally fabricated using the strainer bodies and technologies in Eaton's simplex and duplex lines. Many times these fabricated strainers consist of multiple simplex strainers hooked up in line to work in tandem as a single unit. Eaton Temporary Strainers

These are used for a short time to remove debris that might be in a new pipe line from construction and installation. Once this initial debris is removed from the line, the temporary strainer can be removed. See the Eaton model 92 Strainer or learn more about temporary strainers.
