Eaton Hydraulic Filtration Product Lines
Eaton's hydraulic filtration portfolio was built through decades of engineering development and the acquisitions of Internormen Technologies in 2011 and Vickers in 1999. Buyers familiar with these brands will find the same products and engineering quality under the Eaton name. CFS carries the full range organized into three categories.
Offline, also called kidney-loop, filtration systems operate independently from the main hydraulic circuit. They continuously circulate fluid from the reservoir through a dedicated filter and return clean fluid to the tank. Offline filtration is the most effective way to maintain target fluid cleanliness levels because it runs continuously regardless of machine operating cycles.
Stationary Offline Filter Units, US Series are designed for the oil service of gears and systems using high-viscosity lubricants. Equipped with a gear pump driven by an electric motor, the US series draws oil from a reservoir, removes solid contaminants and water, and returns clean oil to the tank. Available in multiple flow rates, sizes, and micron ratings. The unit operates without supervision after startup.
Mobile Offline Filter Units, UM Series provide portable filtration that can be moved between machines or systems. They are used for fine filtration, filling, flushing, and transferring hydraulic and lubrication fluids.
Mobile Fluid Cleaning Systems, IFPM Series remove free, emulsified, and dissolved water as well as solid contaminants. Fully automated and PLC-controlled, the IFPM series is compact enough for use in confined areas. Available in two standard sizes with flow rates of 7.9 gal/min, 30 l/min, and 18.5 gal/min, 70 l/min. The standard installed water sensor, WSPS 05, provides permanent monitoring of fluid water saturation.
Hydraulic and Lubrication Filters
Eaton manufactures a complete range of inline hydraulic and lubrication filters in single and duplex configurations. These are installed directly in the hydraulic circuit to protect specific components.
Pressure Filters, HPX Series and others are installed on the pressure side of the circuit, downstream of the pump, to protect sensitive components like servo valves and proportional valves. The HPX series handles working pressures up to 4,568 PSI, 315 bar. Available in in-line, flange-mounted, and manifold-mounted configurations.
Return-Line Filters are installed on the return side of the circuit, capturing contaminants generated by system components before the fluid returns to the reservoir.
Suction Filters and Strainers are installed at the pump inlet to protect the pump from large particles. Eaton's AS and TS suction filter elements are designed to minimize pressure drop while preventing damaging particles from reaching the pump.
Air Breathers prevent airborne contaminants from entering the hydraulic reservoir as fluid levels rise and fall during system operation.
Duplex Filters feature two filter chambers with a changeover valve, allowing element replacement without shutting down the hydraulic system. Essential for applications requiring continuous operation.
Knowing the contamination level in your hydraulic fluid is the foundation of any effective maintenance program. Eaton's contamination monitoring systems provide real-time diagnosis of fluid condition.
Monitoring equipment connects via USB for data transfer and management through Eaton's LabVIEW Data Manager software. Systems can be installed permanently in-line or used as portable diagnostic tools to spot-check fluid cleanliness across multiple machines.
Filter Elements
Eaton's hydraulic filtration line includes over 4,000 filter elements with high dirt-holding capacity, consistent filtration efficiency, and long element life. Elements are available with various filter materials, construction types, and micron ratings to match your system requirements.
| Element Type | Application | Key Feature |
|---|---|---|
| 01.E Pressure Filter Elements | Medium and high pressure in-line filters | Protects valves, motors, and precision components |
| 01.E Return-Line Filter Elements | Return-line filters | Reduces oil contamination returning to reservoir |
| 01.E Lubrication Filter Elements | Larger lubrication filters | Protects system components and extends oil life |
| 01.AS / TS Suction Filter Elements | Suction filters at pump inlet | Protects hydraulic pumps from large particles |
All elements are available in multiple micron ratings. Contact CFS for help identifying the correct element for your filter housing model.
Types of Hydraulic Contamination
Understanding the three types of contamination helps you select the right filtration strategy for your system.
Solid contamination includes dirt, metal particles from component wear, seal material, and manufacturing debris. Solid particles cause abrasive wear on precision-machined surfaces and are the most common cause of hydraulic system failure. Inline filters and offline filtration systems address solid contamination.
Liquid contamination is primarily water, which enters through condensation, seal leaks, or heat exchangers. Water in hydraulic oil causes corrosion, accelerates additive depletion, and reduces the oil's lubricating properties. Fluid purifier systems, including the IFPM series, specifically target water removal.
Gaseous contamination is dissolved or entrained air in the hydraulic fluid. Air causes cavitation, spongy system response, noise, and accelerated oil oxidation. Air breathers and proper reservoir design help manage gaseous contamination.
